Reflections from Gartner Symposium/ITXPO Orlando
Last week thousands of CIO's and senior IT executives descended on the Swan & Dolphin resort at Disneyworld Orlando to learn about new business technologies and strategies that can enable them to grow their businesses and improve productivity.
It was a well-organized event with both educational sessions and time for IT managers to interact with vendors to discover solutions such as ShoreTel Mobility that can transform their businesses.
There was a diverse group of customers that we spoke with ranging from happy ShoreTel PBX/UC customers who wanted to learn about our Mobility solution to Avaya, Cisco, Microsoft and Nortel customers who wanted to learn how ShoreTel could mobilize their workforce while reducing mobile expenses and extend wireless coverage.
The customers who came by where impressed with our ability to demonstrate live calls over the cellular and Wi-Fi network for Android, BlackBerry, iPhone and iPad devices. We had both a ShoreTel PBX and a Cisco UCM PBX running in the booth with Cisco and ShoreTel desk phones paired with mobile devices extending the desk phone capabilities to mobiles.
I even spoke to one Cisco customer who now wants to meet with our sales team to discuss how they can leverage their Cisco UCM PBX and eliminate their desk phones completely and fully embracing the mobile work life.
The customers we met with were from diverse industries ranging from financial services to manufacturing, healthcare, banking, education and insurance services. A common theme across these customers was that they all have seen an explosion in the number of smartphones in use by their workforce, primarily driven by the BYOD (bring your own device) effect, and are now looking to extend their UC capabilities to these devices to provide a secure enterprise communications experience, while allowing employees with personal devices to maintain their personal identity on the device as well.
We had a good a number of customers who had been referred by their Gartner analysts to stop by our booth and speak with us about our Mobility solution with heterogenous PBX support. A few of the customers had mentioned that they first seen our solution in the Gartner MarketScope for Enterprise Mobile Communication Gateway report
We also had one of our partners, AT&T, who was sharing their AT&T Dual-Mode Mobile Voice solution with customers who were visiting their booth that was also in the Mobile & Wireless area of the ITXPO exhibit hall. As you can see in their product brief, the solution consists of the ShoreTel Mobility Router and ShoreTel RoamAnywhere Client.
If you missed the event and want to see a demo of the product, you can find a few video demos on the right side column at http://www.shoretel.com/products/user_apps/roamanywhere_client
We look forward to talking to you soon and helping you mobilize your enterprise.
