Steve Timmerman has joined the company as vice president of marketing and will lead ShoreTel's global marketing and business development initiatives. John Jarvis, named European Managing Director, will head up all European operations. Both seasoned executives with decades of experience in communication technology companies, they report to ShoreTel President and CEO, John W. Combs.

Timmerman's prior experience includes serving as vice president for Bermai, where he directed all marketing and business development activities for its wireless products. As vice president of marketing for Proxim, he was responsible for marketing indoor and outdoor wireless networking products and building the company into a market leader. Timmerman held several key management positions at Octel Communications (the voicemail company) up through its acquisition by Lucent Technologies. He also worked with McKinsey in San Francisco and Europe. Timmerman holds a bachelor's degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Princeton University and a master's degree in Business Administration from Harvard University.

Jarvis has extensive international experience in the business application of leading-edge information technology from both the manufacturing and services sides of the IT and telecommunications industries. He served as CEO for Ram Data, a subsidiary of BellSouth and the leading mobile data network operator in the UK. He also served as Chief Executive for BIS Information Systems, owned at the time by Nynex, with responsibility for revenue of £55 million from operations in the UK, USA, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and Australia. As president and CEO of Mitel Corporation, his achievements included returning the company to profitability after four years of losses, which had approached $380 million cumulatively; streamlining the corporation by integrating three overlapping subsidiaries, and rationalizing manufacturing operations across sites in Canada, USA, UK, Hong Kong and China. During 12 years with PA Computers and Telecommunications, a subsidiary of the PA Consulting Group, he moved from senior consultant through divisional director and president of the North American subsidiary to group chief executive, responsible for all computer and telecommunications consultancy world-wide. Jarvis earned a BA in Mathematics and an MA from Oxford University.
